Job Summary:

The Westerville Special Olympics Coordinator for will be responsible for planning, organizing, and executing Special Olympics programs and events across Ohio. This role involves working closely with athletes, volunteers, coaches, community partners, and sponsors to ensure a successful and inclusive program that supports the mission of Special Olympics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and implement Special Olympics programs, competitions, and events throughout the state.
  • Plan and manage budgets for events and programs in collaboration with the State Director.
  • Ensure compliance with Special Olympics policies, rules, and safety regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records and provide reports on program activities, athlete participation, and financials.
  • Support Unified Sports initiatives and foster inclusive opportunities for athletes with and without intellectual disabilities.
  • Will be the face of the WSO program and shall professionally at all times.
  • Shall meet with WSO Advisory Committee no less than quarterly per year or when necessary, every other month.
  • Annually review new and exciting ways to increase profitability and reduce expenses

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Recreation, Education, Social Work, or related field preferred
  • Experience in event planning, sports administration, or nonprofit program coordination.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations, including individuals with intellectual disabilities.
  • Experience in volunteer management and community engagement.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and event management software.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be willing to travel within Ohio.

Job Title: Westerville Special Olympics Athletic Director

Job Summary:

The Westerville Special Olympics Athletic Director oversees the coordination and execution of sports programs, ensuring athletes have meaningful training and competition opportunities. This volunteer position is ideal for someone passionate about sports, coaching, and creating inclusive athletic experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, and oversee Special Olympics sports programs and competitions.
  • Assist in recruit, train, and support coaches and volunteers.
  • Budgeting plus the oversight of the storage unit regarding athletes' uniforms, equipment and supplies.
  • Ensure athletes receive proper training and have access to appropriate sports equipment and facilities.

  • Maintain accurate financial records of budgets, donations, and expenditures that balance with the Bank Statements.
  • Provide monthly and annual reporting to the WSO Advisory Board and Ohio Special Olympics.
  • Oversee the financial part of fundraising and sponsorship financial tracking.
  • Make deposits, process reimbursements and maintain the check registry for WSO with expenditure receipts and records.
  • Acknowledge donations and thank Donors.
  • Ensure compliance with Ohio Special Olympics policies, rules, and financial regulations.
  • Coordinate with volunteers, coaches, and community partners on financial matters.
  • Assist in grant applications and financial reporting requirements.
